Ivonne,

You bring up some very good questions related to specific jobs. I can see how using the internet at work might enhance the work productivity of someone in the business, stocks, or even medical field. I believe the internet can be a useful tool in almost any profession. I saw on television how firefighters were using GPS satelites and cameras mounted to the bottle of helicopters to send heat signals to computers at the firestations so the captain could find potential "hotspots" that needed tending to. It is very interesting how much the internet has change the course of work for many professions.

Yes, and it would entail monitoring employees' Internet use, which employers may already do, to see what sites are being visited, how long, and whether or not that site has any relevancy to the employee's work requirements. Somewhat subjective, but realistic in its "instrumentation" and quantification, to get usable results, if done properly (i.e.: verifiable and reliable methods.)
I think this would be a very useful research project as well, since it has been widely reported that businesses lose considerable chunks of work time to the Internet (one report was $790 billion a year ?!?!).
